STUCK IN THE SNOW in G-Scale Garden Train Railway Land - 03-07-15

(Blog Entry By Bob)

Not only has the train layout fallen under the weight of winter but I have as well.

The whole month of February we have been experiencing temperatures of -20c/-4F and wind chills of -30c/-22F making photography very difficult.  I have picked up a nagging cough three weeks ago and that has been kept me inside the house on the sidelines.  Now that the snow has finally started to melt, I am excited to get back outside.

I have joined a G-scale train group in Buffalo New York with my friend Stewart.  We were supposed to go to my first meeting in November but on that day they were hit with a blizzard dropping 6 feet of snow in some areas closing many highways.  Unable to go to the December Christmas party we attended the meeting in January. At the February meeting I was voted in as a member of The Western New York Garden Railway Society. They are a group of friends who meet once a month to discuss setting up train show displays with their travelling layout at places like the Erie County Fair, Buffalo Botanical Gardens and the Buffalo Toy & Train Show. From setting up and running the displays they are able to generate a bit of money to update and improve group layouts.  They have model building contests for prizes, how-to seminars, dinner get-togethers, member open houses, coffee & snacks at the meetings and so much more.  I really like being around other people with a similar interests since I am a bit isolated from other G-scalers where I live. I am excited to learn how others create and enjoy their model trains
